There's been a post office on this site for quite some time. Office", with postmaster A. P. Wakeman and chief clerk C. T. Allaway presiding over "ordinary business", money order and postal order issue and payment, telegram dispatch, and "savings bank, insurance & annuity & inland revenue business".
